Featured Artist Dana Schnabel

Although a native Californian, Dana Schnabel has strong ties to Oregon. In his youth, he would often visit family in Douglas County (who pioneered the Elkton area). Dana’s mom (Ellen), brother (Lyle) and sister-in-law (Stephanie) all live in Elkton. Dana learned to fly-fish in Oregon, camping every summer on the spectacular North Umpqua. He got to know the river well, fishing for both summer steelhead and trout. Later, he would drive north with friends exploring and fishing everywhere from Brookings to the Columbia River. He is thankful his life-long friendship with Oregon Outdoors co-host Cam Parry has only resulted in half of his bones being broken (as he has been bounced off cliffs, introduced to bears, and dragged down white-water rapids). With family and friends still in Oregon, Dana makes the trip north as often as he can.  When Dana is not fishing, he is a graphic artist and freelance illustrator.  You can see more of Dana’s artwork in the Gallery and if you’re interested in purchasing one of his illustrations, please leave a comment or email us at info@oregonoutdoorsradio.com.
