Meet New KDUNE Oregon Outdoors Host…Randy McVean
Sadly, when our dear friend Mike Cook decided he wanted to retire from hosting our Reedsport Oregon Outdoors show, I had the arduous task of finding a new host. Without his knowledge, I began to “groom” Randy by having him Co-host our Coos Bay show with Cam Parry whenever Mike was unavailable. (Mike will continue to co-host the Coos Bay show with Cam Parry). Needless to say, Randy was a natural and when I approached him about becoming our permanent host on KDUNE, thankfully he said yes! So here’s a short bio about Randy:
Randy McVean was born and raised in Oroville, CA before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1971. After leaving the military, he moved to Sacramento for college and work. Looking into business opportunities, McVean decided that the fledgling field of home improvement offered opportunities for growth.
Over his long career, Randy has managed home centers for Lumberjack, Payless Cashways, Home Builders Outlet and currently manages Hennick’s Home Center’s Bandon store.
Randy loves to run, hike, golf, target practice, and work out. His hunting experiences are tied to wild turkeys and ducks. His fishing experiences are lake fishing and deep-sea fishing.
Randy and his wife Jean have run in a number of events, the H-4 Half Marathon in Hawaii and the Lake Tahoe Marathon being the most notable.
Randy has a son and three grandsons living in Sacramento, a daughter and granddaughter living in Culver City. He and his wife Jean live in Coos Bay and spend most, if not all of their free time hiking the trails and beaches in and around Southern Oregon.
If you would like to send show ideas, have a question or just want to let Randy know how he’s doing, you can comment here or email him at kdune@kdune.com. WELCOME ABOARD RANDY!!!
